Since its reboot in 2001, the MINI Cooper has earned a rabid fan base. One of those fans was Gabriel Bridger, a Chicago-area advertising professional. Starting with just a MINI-dedicated page on his personal blog, his loose collection of found MINI news, photos and his personal experience with his own car soon grew into MotoringFile, the world’s premier MINI news outlet.

Since 2010, I’ve served as MotoringFile’s Senior Editor — handling day-to-day news and penning my fair share of editorial and reviews. Grounded in my own enthusiasm for the MINI brand (I bought mine in 2006), the work I do at MotoringFile is a particularly interesting flavor of journalism. Our news is written by MINI fans, for MINI fans.

MotoringFile

MotoringFile’s coverage of the MINI brand has now spanned three generations of the car. My specific role at MotoringFile is one part content generation, one part community manager, one part copy editor. Between the posts I write myself and the posts I edit for our other contributors, I also see every comment our very active community posts on our stories. Moderating comments has been a fascinating lesson in human nature.
